WILSON, N.C. — June 2, 2015 — NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education), a program administered by the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), has awarded Barton College a $36,700 two-year grant to develop a program intended to provide Barton students with an opportunity to reflect upon vocation. The program, titled Life Matters, is housed within the Center for Religious Studies at Barton College, and is a joint enterprise with the Office of Student Success and the Office of the Chaplain. WILSON, N.C. – May 6, 2015 — Barton traded in its characteristic royal blue & white to “go green,” as the College was recently recognized for its commitment to recycling and sustainability. Between February 1 and March 28, Barton collected items from the campus community for RecycleMania 2015. Nearly 400 colleges and universities across the nation, representing 4.5 million students, competed in this annual challenge, and Barton finished second among participating institutions in North Carolina. Rankings are determined based on the percentage of overall waste that is recycled, with Barton achieving a total recycling rate of 54.1%. WILSON, N.C. — Two hundred and fifty-one Barton College seniors and six graduate students received diplomas on Sunday, May 11, during the school’s 112th annual commencement exercises. Participating in the ceremony were Barton students who completed their baccalaureate degree requirements in December 2013 and May 2014, and baccalaureate candidates who expect to fulfill requirements over the summer, as well as graduate students who completed their Master of Education degree in Elementary Education (M.Ed.). Barton was again named among the 2014 Best Colleges in the Southeast by “The Princeton Review” and listed in the top tier of “U.S. News & World Report’s” 2014 Best Regional Colleges in the South.
