Barton College’s Angie Walston Receives National Honor

WILSON, N.C. — With a campus community of about 1,000, Barton College knows that small can be special. So when one of its own is just one of 10 people in the nation recognized for their dedication to students, the campus wants to share the news. Angie Walston, assistant dean of student success, was recognized by the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) as an “Emerging Leader” at the organization’s national conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, earlier this semester. WILSON, N.C. — The blur of blue shirts spotted across Wilson on Wednesday, Oct. 16, will unmistakably be Barton College Bulldogs busy at work for a multitude of local organizations during the annual Barton College Day of Service in our community. With over 800 Barton participants signed up, students and professors at the College will set aside books, and campus staff members will step away from desks, for the sixth annual “Day of Service” on campus and in the Wilson community. 111th Commencement Exercises Held Sunday at Barton

WILSON, N.C. — Mother’s Day proved a perfect backdrop as graduating students’ families joined the Barton College community on the campus green for Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 12. Dr. Assad Meymandi delivered the commencement address. Some 230 seniors participated in the 111th annual commencement exercises. Dr. Norval C. Kneten presided over his ninth commencement program as president of Barton College. Dr. Kelly M. Thompson, interim provost and vice president for external relations, presented the graduating class. Participating in this year’s commencement ceremony were students who completed their baccalaureate degree requirements in December 2012 and May 2013, as well as candidates who expect to fulfill requirements over the summer.
