WEATHER Advisory for Thursday, November 12, 2020
Campus Operations Discontinue at 2 p.m. Today
Members of the Barton College Community,
We have been monitoring the inclement weather conditions today, and rain is forecast to continue into the evening. The Wilson community has a flash flood warning currently in effect until 2:30 p.m. We realize that flash flooding can occur at different rates in different locations, and our campus community members may live in areas that are being affected more heavily.
Therefore, the College has made the decision to close the campus offices for the remainder of the day and evening, beginning at 2 p.m. today. Students in courses that meet after 2 p.m. should await communication from their faculty about whether course content will be moved online. The Town Hall scheduled for faculty and staff this afternoon is cancelled.
The play “Pride of Doves” will continue this evening. The Culinary Center will be open on campus until 8 p.m. this evening.
Please be safe and use an abundance of caution if you must travel this afternoon in the rain. Be alert for flooded roadways and do not attempt to drive through standing water, which could be deeper than is visible to the driver or hiding a washed-out road. Please also drive slowly in heavy rain to avoid hydroplaning.
Thank you,
Kathy Daughety Office of Public Relations
