Members of the Barton Community,
Strong winds and heavy rain are expected for this afternoon and continuing into late evening for the Wilson area. There is a threat of damaging wind gusts, and, to a much lesser extent, the possibility of isolated tornadoes in central and eastern North Carolina.
Because of the many outdoor activities (including athletic practices) and travel to evening classes, Barton College has decided to cancel all activities and evening classes for Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m. today.
If students, faculty, or staff need to leave campus earlier than 5 p.m. to avoid the threat of traveling in severe weather, please contact your professors or supervisors directly regarding your specific situation.
We encourage our campus community to use good judgment and caution if you need to travel during this period of inclement weather this evening.
Thank you,
Kathy Daughety
