WILSON, N.C. — Make plans to attend the annual “Walking into April Poetry Day” to be held at Barton College on Saturday, April 12. This year brings another distinguished group of poets to celebrate the written word in the spirit of Sam Ragan. “Walking into April” is sponsored by the North Carolina Poetry Society, Barton College, and the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series, and funded by the late Marie Gilbert. Featured poets for the “Walking into April” morning sessions are Malaika King Albrecht and Daniel Nathan Terry. Sprinkle Lectures and Purcell Bible Conference Scheduled for February 26-27 at Barton College

WILSON, N.C. — The 34th annual Thedford G. and Woodrow W. Sprinkle Lectures and the E.G. Purcell, Jr. Bible Conference are scheduled for February 26 and 27 at Barton College. Dr. Bonnie J. Miller-McLemore, E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of Pastoral Theology in The Divinity School and Graduate Department of Religion at Vanderbilt University will deliver the Sprinkle lectures.  Dr. Anathea Portier-Young, Associate Professor of Old Testament at Duke University Divinity School will be the featured speaker at the Purcell Bible Conference. WILSON, N.C. – Barton College is pleased to welcome Alan Michael Parker for the upcoming Victor R. Small Writers Series Lecture on Monday, Nov. 4. The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on campus. It is free and open to the public, and all are invited to attend this event. WILSON, N.C. – Poets of all skill and experience level have an opportunity to improve their writing abilities by attending the North Carolina Poetry Society’s (NCPS) Down East Fall Workshop on Saturday, October 26, at Barton College. “The Four Habits of Highly Productive Writers” will be held in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to submit to Owens no more than one poem for review at least one week before the workshop.
