WILSON, N.C. — March 23, 2015 — Make plans to attend the annual “Walking into April Poetry Day” to be held at Barton College on Saturday, April 11, in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center. This year brings another distinguished group of poets to celebrate the written word in the spirit of Sam Ragan. Featured poets for the “Walking into April” morning sessions are Scott Owens and Amber Flora Thomas. WILSON, N.C. – Poets of all skill and experience level have an opportunity to improve their writing abilities by attending the North Carolina Poetry Society’s (NCPS) Down East Fall Workshop on Saturday, October 26, at Barton College. “The Four Habits of Highly Productive Writers” will be held in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration will be held from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to submit to Owens no more than one poem for review at least one week before the workshop. WILSON, NC – The Eastern North Carolina Literary Homecoming and the North Carolina Poetry Society (NCPS) present “The Voice of Nature” poetry-writing workshop moderated by Dr. Jim Clark, chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages and Elizabeth H. Jordan Chair of Southern Literature at Barton College.  The workshop will be held on October 15, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on the Barton College campus. Barton College is pleased to host the North Carolina Poetry Society’s Down East Fall Workshop on Oct. 30 in the Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center. Titled “Poet Naturalist/Naturalist Poet,” the workshop features poet and naturalist Bill Griffin. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with registration lasting from 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. The cost of the workshop is $15 for NCPS members and $25 for non-members and includes lunch.
