WILSON, N.C. — May 20, 2015 — Barton College’s Summer Brock, director of alumni and parent relations, has been appointed to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s District III Board of Directors for a two-year term. CASE District III is one of eight regional districts of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education that support educational and professional institutions in North America by enhancing the effectiveness of the alumni relations, fund raising, communications, marketing and other advancement professionals who serve them. WILSON, N.C. — May 17, 2015 — The sun shone brightly on graduates and their families as they gathered with the Barton College community on center campus for Commencement Exercises on Sunday, May 17. Two hundred and fifty-seven seniors participated in the 113th annual commencement exercises. Dr. Norval C. Kneten presided over his twelfth commencement program as president of Barton College. Barton College Places 2nd in State for Annual RecycleMania Challenge

WILSON, N.C. – May 6, 2015 — Barton traded in its characteristic royal blue & white to “go green,” as the College was recently recognized for its commitment to recycling and sustainability. Between February 1 and March 28, Barton collected items from the campus community for RecycleMania 2015. Nearly 400 colleges and universities across the nation, representing 4.5 million students, competed in this annual challenge, and Barton finished second among participating institutions in North Carolina. Rankings are determined based on the percentage of overall waste that is recycled, with Barton achieving a total recycling rate of 54.1%. Barton College and Pitt Community College Partner on Transfer Agreements

WINTERVILLE — May 5, 2015 — Pitt Community College administrators signed a pair of articulations with Barton College this week to establish clear pathways for University Transfer and Human Services Technology (Gerontology) graduates to continue their studies at the private, four-year institution in nearby Wilson. Barton Students Held High Profile at Phi Beta Lambda State Conference

WILSON, N.C. — May 5, 2015 — Barton College was well represented at the 61st annual North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference held April 9-11 in Charlotte.  Three Barton chapter members participated in a variety of competitive events and attended general sessions, regional meetings, and leadership seminars. Approximately 250 delegates, representing 26 chapters, attended the annual conference.  First-place, second-place, and third-place winners at the state conference earned the right to compete at the National Leadership Conference to be held in Chicago, IL, in June. Now retired as Chief Judge for the North Carolina Court of Appeals, Judge Eagles served as a judge of the North Carolina Court of Appeals for over 20 years. He currently practices law in the Raleigh office of Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP. WILSON, N.C. — April 16, 2015 — The Barton College Choir will present their spring concert “Songs and Choruses from Musical Theater” on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in the Kennedy Family Theatre on campus.
