Barton Expects A Large Turn-Out for Nursing Career Day on Tuesday, October 2

WILSON, N.C. — September 28, 2018 — Barton College’s annual Nursing Career Day on Tuesday, Oct 2, promises to be one of the most highly anticipated career days on campus. Returning this fall with an expansive list of employers and graduate schools, Nursing Career Day will welcome approximately 20 potential employers and graduate school recruiters who will be available from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Hardy Alumni Hall to meet nursing students and discuss their next steps after graduation. This event is sponsored by the Barton College Office of Student Success and the Judy Howard Hill Nursing Program at the College.

The focus of the Nursing Career Day is to introduce students to potential employers to learn more about the diversity of job offerings across the region and to meet graduate school recruiters to obtain specific details about applying to graduate programs.

This career fair is open to all healthcare-related majors, but it specifically focuses on nursing majors. All junior and senior nursing majors will be in attendance, which includes more than 80 students, as well as many freshmen and sophomore students interested in pursuing a nursing degree.

“Nursing Career Day provides an excellent opportunity to connect nursing students with healthcare organizations and graduate schools,” explained Angie Walston, assistant dean for student success. “We are proud to offer this annual fall event to highlight our upcoming graduates, as well as provide a venue for all students to talk with recruiting professionals, to learn more about the skills and experiences needed to enter the field, and to discuss the application process with organizations of interest. The career fair is the first step in the job search process for seniors as they showcase their skills and hone their job interests.”

A complimentary lunch for visiting health professsionals, following the fair at 12:30 p.m., will provide a perfect opportunity for the employers and graduate school recruiters to network with Barton College faculty and staff and learn more about the Barton Experience.

Among those employers and graduate school recruiters attending will be: Barton College School of Nursing; Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation; CarolinaEast Health Systems; Duke Health; Duke University School of Nursing; East Carolina University College of Nursing; FirstHealth of the Carolinas; Halifax Regional Medical Center; Home Health & Hospice Care, Inc.; Life Point Health; LifeCare Hospitals of North Carolina; Nash UNC Health Care System: New Hanover Regional Medical Center; N.C.
