WILSON, N.C. — August 15, 2019 — Barton College made an impressive leap into the #2 position in the “Best Regional Colleges – South” ranking by College Consensus for 2019. News of the coveted ranking was met with enthusiastic applause during the opening College Assembly for faculty and staff this week.
The College was also named #7 in Best Colleges and Universities in North Carolina, making the “top-ten” in both of these categories once again. These rankings are up from last year’s notable placement of #8 and #9, respectively.
“As Barton continues to gain national recognition for the Barton Experience, we remain focused on providing student programming and experiences that will boldly shape our future leaders,” shared Dr. Douglas N. Searcy, president of Barton College. “There is tremendous momentum on campus that is evidenced by significant increases in enrollment, recently added undergraduate and graduate programs, new athletic teams, major renovations of campus facilities, and a surge in co-curricular programming that has added to the vibrancy of our campus. Recognized as an aggregate ranking, College Consensus’s rankings are derived from the combination of averages of a school’s ranking scores by respected publishers across the country, including U.S. News and World Report, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal, and student review scores by reputable student websites such as Cappex, Niche, and Unigo, among others.
