Barton College Homecoming Weekend Is Here!

WILSON, N.C. — October 29, 2021 — Barton College’s 2021 Homecoming Weekend is here!  Atlantic Christian/Barton alumni and Bulldog fans from across the region are expected to be on campus for a great weekend of activities that begins on Friday with the annual Alumni Golf Tournament at Wilson Country Club.

New this year is the Bulldog Bash at the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park on Friday evening from 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Barton/ACC alumni, employees, current students, friends/supporters of the College, and the greater Wilson community will come together to enjoy live music by “The Embers.”  There will be local food trucks, Brewmasters, and family fun.

The event celebrates the partnership between the downtown Wilson community and Barton. Sponsored by Greenlight Community Broadband and the Wilson Visitors Center, the Bulldog Bash’s co-hosts include Historic Downtown Wilson, Wilson Chamber of Commerce, City of Wilson, and the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to host the Bulldog Bash as part of Homecoming 2021 festivities and in partnership with the Downtown Wilson community, shared Addison Meinhardt, assistant director of alumni relation at Barton College. “Our hope is that this event can quickly become a Barton tradition and a much anticipated event for all to enjoy.”

The Lady Bulldogs will take on Chowan University also on Friday evening at 7 p.m. for an exciting conference match-up at Wilson Gymnasium.

These Friday events will be great opportunities to rally the Bulldog Spirit for soccer and football games on Saturday.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, the Women’s Soccer Team will face off in a conference match-up against Converse University at the J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex in Wilson. The Men’s Soccer team also follow with their own match-up against Converse on the same field at 1:30 p.m.

The Homecoming Football game is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium. Barton will face Bluefield State College on the gridiron at 2 p.m. for what promises to be an exciting game for all.

Earlier on Saturday, prior to kick-off, Barton and ACC alumni will gather for the ACC Classes of 1970 and 1971’s 50th reunions, and center campus will turn into the Homecoming Fan Zone for other alumni and campus organizations to gather for food, live music, and fun activities for the kids, too.

And, to round out a packed weekend of fellowship, food, sports, and fun, Barton students and alumni will dance the night away at the Homecoming Dance to wrap up a great weekend of old and new traditions.
