Theatre at Barton presents “MisCast in Concert” September 22

WILSON, N.C. — Sept. 5, 2023 — Theatre at Barton is excited to present “ MisCast in Concert” on Friday, Sept. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kennedy Family Theatre on campus.

“This show is full of surprises,” shares Sherry Lee Allen, director of Theatre at Barton. “What could be more fun than hearing some of your favorite Broadway songs unexpectedly performed by an actor who would not typically be considered ‘ideal’ for that role?”

This production will break down cultural barriers, age stipulations, and gender restrictions, allowing each performer the freedom to explore unlimited interpretations of well-loved, popular musical hits.

“It’s a ‘don’t miss opportunity’ to see some very talented individuals on stage, creating original performances, and celebrating the ever-changing Art of Musical Theatre,” Allen emphasizes.

The much-anticipated event will showcase Barton College students and talented community family and friends. The vocal cast will be led by senior theatre majors Jordan Peartree and Alyssa Krasovich, with sophomore theatre major Chris Hodges. Featured guest artists will include Caleb Skinner, Cindy Jones, Michael Johnson, Maria Popowitch, Zach Rayburn ( theatre alumnus ’16) and professor emeritus of biology and audience-favorite Dr. Jane Kolunie.

Faculty members Dorothy Austin-Harrell and Michael Dornemann will support the production technically, with students Kayla Cephus and Tamaira Hawkins. And, Blythe Evans will serve as the musical director and accompanist for the concert.

Join Theatre at Barton for this “one night only” fund-raising event to celebrate local talent and kick off the 2023-2024 theatre season in the Kennedy Family Theatre.

With limited seating, advance reservations are required at www.barton.edu/theatre.

Admission for the public is $10 per person. Barton Faculty/Staff and Barton students will be admitted free with I.D., but advance reservations are also required.
