The 365-Day Countdown Kick-Off Has Been Rescheduled For Wednesday, October 16

WILSON, N.C. — September 18, 2019 — The much anticipated 365-Day Countdown: Bulldog Football Kick-Off Event, beginning a yearlong celebration of Barton College Athletics and the arrival of football, has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 3 p.m., in the area adjacent to Electric Supply Company Field on campus, complete with music, food trucks, give-aways, and games. The rescheduled event will include all of the opportunities originally advertised as the campus celebrates the Countdown on the heels of the Barton College Day of Service earlier in the day.

Blue, Barton’s new costumed mascot, can’t wait to introduce himself to the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the College at the Kick-Off. Following the Kick-Off, the excitement will continue as Barton fans move over to Electric Supply Company Field to cheer on their beloved Bulldogs as they face Mount Olive in men’s and women’s soccer matches beginning at 5 p.m.

Each month following, for an entire year, Barton will host an opportunity to become more engaged with the campus and its athletics programs, as we anticipate Barton’s Opening Game Day for Football on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020.

During Homecoming Weekend, October 18-19, be sure to visit the 365-Day Countdown display under the Tent. There will be updates to share.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, the campus and the greater Wilson community will join together to give thanks for hope with a Food and Supplies Drive for the Hope Station Pantry and Hope Station’s new Westview House family shelter in Wilson. And, be sure to watch for a big announcement to be made on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Once the ball drops on New Year’s Eve, attention will turn to a month-long list of personal appearances in January 2020 by Barton’s new costumed mascot Blue (dates and location will be announced). February is full of love for the Barton Bulldogs as the month’s fun begins with the Football Signing Day Party on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, followed by the Barton College / Wilson Symphony’s Love the Symphony concert on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, with a tribute to football, as well as the overarching Barton athletics program.

March winds will create a stir on the 28th day of the month (Saturday) when the Bulldogs’ Blue and White game fuels enthusiasm on Electric Supply Company Field. And, Bulldogs fans will not want to miss Football 101 with Coach Chip Hester and President Doug Searcy on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Plan to meet these two on Electric Supply Company Field to hone your knowledge of the game.

The sun will be shining on the Beach Blitz in May, as Barton publications and area billboards near and at the coast will feature Bulldog student-athletes.

June is the perfect month to celebrate a marriage made in heaven, as Barton plans to celebrate its hometown community of Wilson with commemorative posters and give-aways distributed to local businesses and organization partners across the city.

The campus will celebrate the red, white, and especially blue a few days early on Wednesday, July 1, 2020, with an Independence Day Picnic for Barton College faculty, staff, and summer school students. And, a variety of Bulldog sports camps, including a new football camp, also will be in high gear throughout the summer months.

By August, the clock will be ticking, and the final days, hours, and minutes will begin to be counted on Saturday, August 22, 2020, as the campus plans to celebrate with a Countdown Scrimmage and Pep Rally on Electric Supply Company Field.

Mark your calendars now to be at Electric Supply Company Field on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, for the Opening Game Day for Barton Football.
