Barton Invites the Wilson Community to Join in “Giving Thanks for Hope”

WILSON, N.C. — October 25, 2019 — Barton College is excited to host “Giving Thanks for Hope,” a community-wide food and supplies drive to provide much needed support for Hope Station’s food pantry, men’s shelter, and its new Westview House family shelter that has just opened in Wilson.

The food and supplies drive will run from October 28 through November 12, with the drop-off date for the collected items on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Electric Supply Company Field on the Barton campus. Barton welcomes individuals, schools, companies, and area organizations to join in this united effort to support Hope Station, as they serve disadvantaged individuals and families in Wilson.

This event is one of more than 12 monthly events that Barton is sponsoring in its 365-Day Countdown to Barton Football next fall. Barton football coaches and players, and other volunteers on campus will be on hand to help receive the food and supply items donated for “Giving Thanks for Hope” on Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Electric Supply Company Field, where Barton football will begin on September 5, 2020.  The field is located near the intersection of Whitehead and Woodard Streets.

Lists of items that will be especially helpful for supporting the Hope Station food pantry and its two shelter facilities are noted below.
