Barton Welcomes Jon Pineda for Victor R. Small Writers Series Lecture on March 22

WILSON, N.C. — February 21, 2023 — Barton College will welcome author Jon Pineda for the upcoming Victor R. Small Writers Series Lecture on Wednesday, March 22. The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. in Howard Chapel on campus. This event is open to the public at no charge, and the community is invited to attend.

Pineda is the author of six books, including two novels, three poetry collections, and one memoir. His work has appeared in numerous literary magazines and anthologies, including the “New York Times Magazine,” “Shenandoah,” and “Sierra Club,” and has twice received the Library of Virginia Literary Award (one for fiction and one for poetry). A 2022 Virginia Center for the Creative Arts fellow, Pineda is a core faculty member in the Master of Fine Arts program at Queens University of Charlotte and has taught in the university’s Latin America MFA program in Rio de Janeiro and in Buenos Aires. He has served on the teaching faculty at Kundiman, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing generations of writers and readers of Asian American Literature, and is associate professor of English at the College of William & Mary.
