WILSON, N.C. — August 18, 2022 — The Barton College community is thrilled to welcome approximately 300 freshmen and an additional 65 transfer students to campus this week, and we can’t wait to see our returning upperclassmen who will arrive over the weekend. Our teams across campus, from Admissions to Financial Aid, from Orientation to Student Engagement and Academics, have all worked incredibly hard to prepare for this fall semester.
We have been very intentional in planning for our students’ arrival this week. Welcome Weekend provides important opportunities for our new students to bond with each other during a wide variety of activities and events, including a bus ride together to a Mudcats baseball game, the blue & white soccer games on Electric Supply Company Field at Truist Stadium, and the much anticipated annual Induction and Naming Ceremony for new students on Sunday evening. This is a time-honored tradition that officially welcomes our new students into the campus community.
Welcome Week on campus begins on Monday with the Chamber of Commerce’s Welcome Back Barton Day for our students and the Student Engagement Team will continue that level of energy with activities and events each day as our new and returning students get to know each other and become involved in the life of the College.
