2016 Senior Showcase Opens in Barton Art Galleries on April 23

WILSON, N.C. – April 18, 2016 — Barton College is pleased to announce the opening of 2016 Senior Showcase on Saturday, April 23, with an evening reception to be held from 6-8 p.m. in the Barton Art Galleries in Case Art Building on the campus of Barton College. The community is invited to attend.

Twenty seniors within the School of Visual, Performing, and Communications Arts will have their works on view in the Barton Art Galleries through May 15. These seniors and their majors include: John Aranda of El Paso, Texas, Video Broadcast & Production; Amber Baker of Nashville, Graphic Design & Photography; Courtney Bennett of Mount Olive, Audio Recording & Video Production; Christopher Byrd of Greenville, Video Broadcast & Production; Elizabeth Capps of Durham, Graphic Design & Photography; Eric Chervinko of Durham, Video Broadcast & Production; Allison Dellinger of Durham, Theatre Management & Performance; Michael Delsardo of Pittsburgh, Pa., Video Broadcast & Production; Jah-moul Gordon of Spring Valley, N.Y., Video Broadcast & Production; Tiffany Gussenhofen of Goldsboro, Public Relations & Video Production; Collan Kammerer of Winston-Salem, Painting & Drawing; Keith Manley, II of Greensboro, Audio Recording Technology; Kimberly Olivera of Winston-Salem, Journalism; Shane O’Daniel of Knightdale, Audio Recording Technology; Zachery Rayburn of Pikeville, Musical Theatre & Theatre Performance; Theresa Scott of Lapeer, Mich., Graphic Design & Photography; Myra Stotesbury of Vanceboro, Art Education; Kevin Strassburger of Porto Alegre, RS, Brazil, Video Broadcast & Production; Jordan Wade of Zebulon, Audio Recording & Video Production; Amber Wilson of Baltimore, Md., Audio Recording Technology; Lashley Winter of Brooklyn, N.Y., Video Broadcast & Production; and Donovan Woods of Raleigh, Painting & Drawing.

All 20 seniors within the School of Visual, Performing, and Communications Arts will be represented in the Barton Art Galleries during the 2016 Senior Showcase. In addition to works of art by the Visual Arts majors, the two Theatre majors will have documentation of their plays, and the Broadcast & Video Production will have posters and synopses for their films.

The Theatre majors held open forum-style discussions following each night of their performances held earlier in February. The Video Broadcast & Production majors will introduce their original films at a screening on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m., in the Hamlin Student Center Theater on campus. A brief Q&A session will follow the screenings.

“This is the inaugural year to showcase the works of our graduating seniors in the newly established School of Visual, Performing and Communication Arts (SVPCA),” explained senior advisor Gérard Lange, associate professor of art in the School of Visual, Performing, and Communication Arts. “This union demonstrates the strength of the creative arts at Barton and has provided an opportunity to bring greater recognition to our academic programs.”
