Spring 2026 Homegrown Writers Series Highlights Barton College Student Authors

WILSON, N.C. — February 5, 2026 — Barton College will celebrate the creativity of its student writers with the 2026 Homegrown Writers Series on Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 4:30 p.m. in the Barton Art Galleries, Case Art Building. Free and open to the public, the event offers the community a chance to experience the voices and stories emerging from Barton’s vibrant creative writing program.

The afternoon will feature readings from student authors Jenny Corbett Harrell, Kent Brantley, Berkley Ann Hicks, and Emma Davis, each sharing their distinct perspectives and imaginative works.

“As our creative writing program grows, this event gets better and better each year,” said Michael K. Brantley, Elizabeth H. Jordan Chair of Southern Literature and associate professor of English.”This group of writers has shown the work ethic and talent to take their writing to the next level, and we’re excited to showcase them.”
