Members of the Barton College community,
Forecasts from regional weather services indicate a wintry mix beginning this afternoon, Monday, December 8, around 3:00 p.m., and continuing into the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 9. Conditions may include freezing rain, sleet, or light snow, which could create slick roads and walkways.
Winter Weather Operational Adjustments
- Monday, December 8:
- On-campus College activities, including athletics, will cease at 2:00 p.m.
- Staff may depart campus at 2:00 p.m. Those whose roles allow for remote work may transition to remote work beginning at 1:00 p.m., with supervisor approval.
- All online evening exams remain on schedule.
- Tuesday, December 9:
- On-campus College activities, including athletics, will be delayed until 10:00 am.
- 8:00 a.m. in-person exams will move to 3:00 p.m. (3:00 – 5:00 p.m.) at the originally designated locations.
- All other exams remain on schedule (10:00 a.m. – noon; 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.; 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.; online)
College personnel should work with their supervisors to make wise travel choices based on their local conditions.
Staying Safe in Winter Conditions
- Allow extra time to move across campus; sidewalks and paths may be icy.
- Walk carefully on stairs, paths, and parking lots.
- Avoid unnecessary travel if conditions worsen.
