WILSON, N.C. — April 3, 2017 — The spring season provides a perfect backdrop for a visit to Winston-Salem on Saturday, April 22, to see the renowned Reynolda House Museum of American Art and the impressive Diggs Gallery on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. And, traveling with the Barton College Friends of Visual Arts will make this trip a relaxing one-day getaway.
Participants will depart by coach from the Kennedy Family Theatre parking lot at Barton College at 8 a.m. Highlights of the trip include lunch at Rooster’s Wood Fired Kitchen: A Noble Grille, followed by a tour of the beautiful, historic Reynolda House. The highlight of this tour will be the “Samuel F.B. Morse’s ‘Gallery of the Louvre’ and the Art of Invention” at the Reynolda House Museum of American Art.
The final stop in Winston-Salem will be a visit to the Diggs Gallery at Winston-Salem State University. The Diggs Gallery is named for James Thackeray “T” Diggs, Jr., a 1934 graduate of Winston-Salem State University, a painter, and a former WSSU art professor for more than 40 years.
The group will return to Barton College by approximately 8 p.m.
The cost for the Spring Excursion is $75 for current FOVA members. For non-members, the cost is $100, which includes membership to FOVA at the Friend level. Transportation to and from the College, tour fees, and lunch are included in the cost.
