Barton College currently has an opening for a licensed full-time Preventive Maintenance Technician, responsible for the daily management of the systems and structures preventive maintenance schedule in an effective and efficient manner. The technician will collect, maintain, and publish records / reports to support a successful preventive maintenance program to include task facilitation, record recording, periodic reporting to internal and external consumers, and continuously seek process improvements. Additionally, the technician will serve as a point coordinating official in managing assigned College assets to include property, facilities, and vehicles as directed by the Director of Facilities.

Key responsibilities:
- Proactively collects & records meaningful data used to continuously improve the college preventive maintenance program
- Makes field measurements & visual inspections
- Write reports & work orders
- Changes oil, HVAC filters, greases motors, changes belts, adjust thermostats, tightens nuts & bolts, adjust pulleys, manages college vehicle readiness, and other duties as assigned
- Assists in internal and external reporting & analyzing preventive maintenance key readiness indicators
- Assists with providing information in constructing the annual maintenance action / budget planning
- Proactively identifies maintenance risks and recommending remediation actions
- Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems to include performing warranty services
- Provide technical direction and on-the-job training where directed/needed
- Ensure compliance with applicable internal and external standards to include compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Complying with equipment manufacturer service standards, work instructions, and College requirements
- Manage and resolve customer-based incident/request job ticket system to maximize workflow efficiencies and customer satisfaction
- Must be a team player and be willing to support other areas of the Facilities teams as directed/needed
Other Responsibilities:
- This position is required to be available to provide support to the College in non-traditional days and times depending on the current need to include emergency call back
- This position is part of the College’s on-call program which would require direct emergency telephone coverage to support the maintenance department
- This position is considered “essential personnel” and would be subject to being campus during times where the College may be closed due to weather or other unscheduled related closures
Skills, Experience and credentials:
- High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
- Minimum 1+ year of verifiable HVAC support experience and a willingness to continue HVAC education training to lead toward Barton desired certification levels
- Candidates with current desired HVAC certifications are favored
- Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license
