WILSON, N.C. – February 6, 2019 — The newly-formed Barton College Football Team has signed its first-ever recruiting class.  A total of 37 student-athletes signed with the Bulldogs on national signing day with 34 coming from the state of North Carolina.

“It’s a great day to be a Barton Bulldog,” said Barton Head Football Coach Chip Hester.  “Today is another historic day for Barton College Football.  National signing day is the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication by the young men and their families.  It also represents bold vision and preparation by the Barton College community.

“We’ve signed a distinctive group of young men who have committed to be uncommon,” added Hester.  “They look forward to receiving a great education while making history on the football field.  These young men have accepted the challenge, and I can’t wait to coach the group.”

Barton officially announced the return to intercollegiate football on Tuesday, June 19, with the hiring of Coach Hester.  Barton, then Atlantic Christian College, last fielded a team in 1950.  The school will begin intercollegiate play in 2020 and recently signed a scheduling alliance with the South Atlantic Conference, an NCAA Division II league fielding teams in Tennessee and North and South Carolina.
