Barton College Friends of Visual Arts
In 2006, a group of art enthusiasts gathered to plan and implement an organization dedicated to the visual arts at Barton College. Shortly after, the Friends of Visual Arts emerged.
The mission of the Friends of Visual Arts is to enrich the cultural life of Barton College and the surrounding community through the presentation of quality regional, national and international artists, as well as through presenting captivating arts education programs. In addition, the purposes of the organization are:
To present at least one or more annual lectures related
to the visual arts for the Friends and for the greater community.
To stimulate interest in the visual arts from the greater
community by providing enrichment activities.
To actively engage the College and the greater community
in developing resources to meet the needs of the Department
of Art & Design, specifically for visual arts at Barton College.
"The establishment of the Friends of Visual Arts provides Barton the opportunity to increase its strong regional and national presence as a cultural center for the promotion and preservation of art. And, your love and passion for visual arts sets a standard for those who are just beginning to understand the complexities and mystery of art that have been studied for centuries. With your support, Barton College now has the opportunity to invite world-renowned artists to our community to share their work and philosophy."
