About Professional Studies
Barton’s Professional Studies provide expanded options for our adult students, and they are designed with the working adult in mind. The Professional Studies program includes online, evening, and weekend courses, giving adults more choices in completing their degrees.
Features
- Students admitted into the program must be 21 or older.
- Classes are offered year round with two eight-week sessions in the fall and two eight-week sessions in the spring, plus an eight-week summer session.
- Classes can meet online, evenings, or weekends on Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon.
Course and Schedule Options
All courses necessary for earning degrees in the majors offered in Professional Studies are rotated through the semesters. Each Professional Studies student should meet with an academic advisor to determine the course work necessary for completion of a degree program. The evaluation of transfer credit, the general catalog of enrollment, and the course rotation schedule are used by the advisor and the student to develop a plan of work. This will eliminate missing prerequisites and courses that may not be offered frequently.
Course Offerings
Professional Studies offer classes in the evening, on the weekends, and online. Contact the Graduate and Professional Studies office to learn more, or apply online here. For a list of current Professional Studies courses, click here.

Class Availability
Professional Studies provide courses of study through on-campus classes and online classes. Some programs are fully online while others require some on-campus class attendance. Online courses offered at Barton College are intended to provide opportunities to teach current students in more flexible ways and to provide working adults in the region with alternative learning opportunities.
