WriteOn
Whether your dream is to write the Great American Novel, or you’re an aspiring poet, or you want about writing feature stories for national publications, WriteOn gives you the space, tools, and support to pursue that passion. WriteOn is part of Barton College’s Pathway Program and is designed to help new students build relationships as well as explore and develop their creative skills.
WriteOn is open to students who love to write, whether that is fiction, nonfiction, poetry, playwriting, or journalism. Experienced writers as well as those just beginning their writing journey are welcome and there are no classroom requirements. The group meets monthly in a relaxed and supportive setting to connect the growing writing community at Barton College.
Members of WriteOn will have opportunities to join a wide range of activities on and off campus. All students in WriteOn will have membership in the North Carolina Writers Network, one of premier writing organizations in the United States, which offers several programs throughout the year. Membership in Write Club, the campus English Club is included, as is a spot on the staff of LifeLines, the Barton student literary journal and participate in the several annual literary events on campus.
WriteOn provides an unique opportunity to not only join a community of writers, but also to learn the business side of publishing while developing your writing skills. The support and fellowship with other writers is essential to development as well as a lot of fun.
Led by published writers and authors in the English Department, WriteOn offers a place to develop skills, get real world insight and experience, and develop vital and lasting friendships bound by a love of creativity.
