Assistant Softball Coach

Barton College is accepting applications for Assistant Coach of Women’s Fastpitch Softball, a 9-month, part-time position with an immediate start date. Barton College Athletics is a member of the Conference Carolinas and competes at the NCAA Division II level.


Duties as the Assistant Softball Coach include but are not limited to assisting in the recruitment and retention of a team that meets departmental roster goals; practice and game coaching; conducting skill instruction sessions; providing leadership to facilitate academic and personal success by the team’s student-athletes; performance of other administrative tasks necessary in coaching both teams; involvement in the Wilson community with activities such as team community service work, camps, youth clinics, and promotion of the sport.

Some travel is required.


Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; coaching or fastpitch softball background at the collegiate level. The successful applicant will need to have certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED. A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred requirements include fastpitch playing background at Division 1 or 2 NCAA level; knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation will be a work opportunity not to exceed 29 hours per week at a negotiated rate based on experience and qualifications. Evaluation of applications will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
