Barton Bands
Overview
The Barton Band Pathway invites students from all majors to perform, lead, and grow through music. Whether you’re playing an instrument, marching on the field, or spinning in color guard, you’ll become part of a tight-knit community that brings energy and pride to campus. Barton Bands are open to all who love to perform, regardless of major, and offer a meaningful way to stay connected to music while pursuing your college goals.
What You’ll Experience
As a member of the Barton Bands, you will:
- Perform with the Marching Bulldogs, Pep Band, and/or Color Guard at football games, basketball games, and community events.
- Take part in leadership workshops and retreats designed to help you grow as a musician and leader.
- Develop leadership and collaboration skills that translate far beyond the field.
- Create a strong professional network and lifelong friendships rooted in shared passion and purpose.

Your Band Journey
Year 1:
Join the Barton Band family! Participate in football and basketball performances, learn marching and show fundamentals, and build strong connections with peers and mentors.
Year 2:
Take on additional performance opportunities and begin exploring leadership roles within your section or the Color Guard.
Year 3:
Assist with band organization, mentoring new members, and helping design performance experiences.
Year 4:
Lead by example as a Marching Bulldog leader. Help shape the future of the Barton Band and leave a legacy of music, pride, and teamwork.
Admissions Requirements
To join the Barton Band Pathway:
- Complete the Pathways application within the Barton College admissions application.
- Submit a short audition video. Auditions may be submitted via video file or a shareable link (YouTube, Google Drive, etc.).
Instrumental Audition Video Should Include:
- A set of scales of your choice
- One musical piece that highlights your ability
Color Guard Audition Video Should Include:
- A one-minute performance featuring color guard or majorette choreography (solo or group)
- Identify yourself if performing in a group
Scholarship Opportunities
All accepted Band Pathway members are considered for the Barton College Pathway Scholarship. Eligible students will see this scholarship reflected in their financial aid award package.
