Dr. Jennifer Russell rejoined the faculty at Barton College in the summer of 2025. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of Education and the Teacher Licensure and Operations Coordinator. Dr. Russell earned her Master’s degree in Teaching and Leadership from St. Xavier University and her Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Aurora University, both located in Illinois.
With over 30 years of experience in education, Dr. Russell began her career teaching elementary school in inner-city Chicago. Since 2007, she has worked in teacher education across both Illinois and North Carolina. She first joined Barton College in 2010 before accepting a position as the Department Chair of Education at William Peace University in January 2016. Most recently, she served as an adjunct professor at the University of Mount Olive, where she was honored as Adjunct Professor of the Year in 2024.
Dr. Russell is excited to return to Barton College and contribute to the continued growth of its teacher education programs.
