Gérard Lange, Ed.D.

Gerard Lange currently serves as the Director of the Whitehurst Family Honors Program and as a professor in the School of Visual, Performing, and Communication Arts. His research focuses on student completion linked to retention and satisfaction. He also researches the motivations of students as influenced by their character traits and outside factors. In 2018, Lange was awarded the Boykin Fellowship to study the influence of writing on learning and cognition and was recognized as the Lincoln Financial Faculty of the Year. In 2019, he was recognized with the Friends of Hackney Library Harlow Head Faculty Award and received a grant from the Cork Historical and Archeological Society to complete archival research in Cork, Ireland. At Barton College, Lange teaches classes in honors research, art and design, and general education.
