Dr. Ashley L. Bennett came to Barton College after postdoctoral research at the Duke Human Vaccine Institute, where she investigated the structural dynamics of viral glycoproteins such as the HIV-1 Envelope and SARS-CoV-2 spike. Her work combines molecular simulations, machine learning, and biophysical methods to study protein structure–function relationships and inform therapeutic design. At Barton, she teaches courses in molecular biology and microbiology, bringing her research experience into the classroom to connect core biological concepts with current biomedical challenges.
