Reservation Deposit Deadline – November 30, 2012
WILSON, N.C. — There’s still time to join Barton students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the College for the “Fall of the Third Reich” European trip scheduled for May 21 – May 31, 2013. Travel with Barton and Casterbridge Tours for a fascinating tour abroad that will include famous German sites noted in the history of Adolf Hitler’s rise and fall. This trip will be of particular interest to history buffs and those especially interested in the time period of World War II.

Led by four local guides, travelers will visit Aachen, Rothenburg, Dachau, Munich, Berlin, and other key locations during the conclusion of the second World War. There will be walking tours, visits to famous memorials, and several enjoyable excursions focusing on the broader culture of Germany itself, including a visit to the glockenspiel in Munich and the “Nightwatchman Tour” where Barton sightseers can join one of Rothenburg’s guards on his rounds of the walled medieval city.
“There are so many people interested in the complexities and emotions of World War II,” says Perry Morrison, Travel with Barton’s program leader and participant of this upcoming trip. “They watch all of the television shows and the movies and read the books that focus on this subject. This trip is designed for those who really want to step into the pages of history and visit these iconic sites that have stood still in time.”
This trip will be the third installment of a World War II travel series begun in 2009. The first installment was a travel course titled “Band of Brothers,” which covered D-Day and Normandy, and the second was “Citizen Soldier.”
