Barton College/Wilson Symphony to Perform at the First United Methodist Church on Nov. 20

Patrick Kreeger featured performer WILSON, N.C. — The Barton College/Wilson Symphony will present the dynamic local artist Patrick Kreeger in a “tour de force” concert on Sunday, Nov. 20, at the First United Methodist Church, 100 Green St. N. in Wilson. The performance, scheduled for 3 p.m., will feature Kreeger playing the virtuosic harpsichord part in J.S. Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No.5, the finale to Louis Vierne’s 5th Organ Symphony and the brilliant Concerto for Organ and Orchestra by Francis Poulenc. Barton College/Wilson Symphony to Feature Pianist Patrick Kreeger on Nov. 21

WILSON, N.C. – The Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra will present their annual Fall Concert on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre on the Barton College campus. The orchestra, conducted by music director Mark N. Peterson, will perform two standards of the classical repertoire: Haydn’s celebrated Symphony no. 94 “The Surprise Symphony” and Beethoven’s thrilling Piano Concerto No. 5 “The Emperor.” Haydn, known for his musical wit, frequently featured musical jokes in his symphonies, and a sudden fortissimo chord in the otherwise soft second movement is the most famous of these jokes.
