WILSON, N.C. — The Barton Art Galleries will host an Art and Decorative Arts Appraisal Day with artist-in-residence and North Carolina landscape artist J. Chris Wilson on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event will be held in Case Art Building on the Barton campus and is open to the public at no charge. WILSON, N.C. — Barton College’s professor emeritus and artist-in-residence J. Chris Wilson will hold group and private critiques of paintings on Thursday and Friday, September 19 and 20, in the Barton Art Galleries. On September 19, there will be a group critique from 4-6 p.m., and each participant may bring one painting for the group to discuss. Artist-in-Residence J. Chris Wilson To Host A Painting Workshop In Wilmington July 19-20

WILSON, N.C. — Barton College artist-in-residence J. Chris Wilson will be hosting a painting demonstration in his Wilmington studio on July 19 and 20. The demonstration will take place from 10 a.m. – Noon and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. each day. Participants may attend any part or the entire two-day event. Wilson will begin a painting on Friday and complete the painting by the end of the scheduled demonstration on Saturday. Participants will be observing the process as Wilson develops a painting from beginning to conclusion. He will explain each step and take time to answer questions while he is painting. Professor J. Chris Wilson Named Artist in Residence at Barton College

WILSON, N.C. — J. Chris Wilson has been named Artist in Residence at Barton College for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Wilson began teaching art at Barton College (then Atlantic Christian College) in the fall of 1974, and he has just begun his 37th year with the College. Wilson’s designation, Artist in Residence, is the first in the history of the College. Wilson was awarded a sabbatical for the academic year and will continue as Artist in Residence for the following three years giving workshops and lectures.
