WILSON, N.C. — January 16, 2015 — Barton College will host an evening of discussion focused on race and diversity on Monday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. in Hardy Alumni Hall. The Barton College Minority Student Association, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and Hackney Library have teamed up to host this campus and community panel discussion, titled “The Legacy of the Civil Rights Movement: A Series of Conversations on Moving Forward.” This event is open to the public at no charge, and members of the community are encouraged to attend. WILSON, N.C. — Author and comedic performer Jane Borden will be on the Barton College campus for a book signing in the Willis N. Hackney Library on Thursday, Feb. 16, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Sponsored and hosted by the Barton College Friends of Hackney Library, the book-signing event will include light refreshments and an opportunity to visit with the author. WILSON, N.C. – Children’s book author and illustrator Bonnie Christensen returns to the Barton College campus for a book signing and reception, celebrating her latest work “Django: World’s Greatest Jazz Guitarist.” Sponsored by the Friends of Hackney Library, the event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the library.  Light refreshments will be served. David Payne To Speak at Barton’s Friends of Hackney Library Dinner

WILSON, N.C. – Acclaimed novelist David Payne will be the featured speaker at Barton College’s Friends of Hackney Library fall dinner and lecture on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The evening’s festivities, to be held in Hardy Alumni Hall, will begin with a book signing and wine reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and the program at 7 p.m. Payne’s program is titled “A Lonely Impulse of Delight,” taken from a line in W.B.
