Barton’s 17th Annual Creative Writing Symposium Presents “Selected Poets” on April 1st

WILSON, N.C. — The 17th annual Barton College Creative Writing Symposium is pleased to present “Selected Poets.” The event is scheduled for Monday, April 1, and will feature poets Joseph Bathanti, Debra Kaufman, and Al Maginnes. All sessions will be held in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center at no charge, and the public is invited to attend any or all of these sessions. The program will include two afternoon hour-long sessions and an evening session. WILSON, N.C. — Walking into April Poetry Day, held in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on the campus of Barton College, celebrates its tenth year as a Down East poetry event, keeping the poetic spirit of Sam Ragan alive and thriving in new and upcoming writers. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, and is sponsored by the North Carolina Poetry Society, Barton College, and the Gilbert-Chappell Distinguished Poet Series, funded by the late Marie Gilbert and former NC Poet Laureate Fred Chappell. “The Sound of Poets Cooking” and “Fleur-de-Lisa” to be featured at Barton on April 23rd

WILSON, N.C. — On Saturday, April 23, The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on the campus of Barton College will host a poetry reading, followed by a concert by the female vocal harmony quartet Fleur-de-Lisa. The program will begin at 2 p.m. Following the reading and musical performance, a free poetry workshop will be offered for poets of all levels, fledgling poets and veteran poets alike. The event is free of charge, and the community is invited to attend. Attendees are invited to bring one or more cans of food to share with Hope Station, Wilson’s local food pantry.
