Grubb Installs “Voyager” Sculpture on Barton’s Campus

Time Lapse of the Installation   Raising “Voyager”   North Carolina artist Tom Grubb, assisted by Barton faculty and students, installed “Voyager,” a sculpture composed of bamboo and colored rope, on Barton College’s east campus on Sept. 19. Grubb has been a professional artist installing monumental site-specific sculptures in the United States and abroad since 1980. He was the executive director of the Fayetteville Museum of Art from 1990 through 2010, and, prior to that appointment, he was the interim director and artist-in-residence at the Museum. Gordon Exhibition Opens Barton Art Galleries’ Fall Season

WILSON, N.C. — The 2009-2010 exhibition season for the Barton Art Galleries begins with Mark Gordon: Recent Works.  The ceramics exhibition will open on Monday, Aug. 24, and will run until Friday, Sept. 18. An opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30 from 2-4 p.m. This event is open to the public at no charge, and the community is invited to attend. A professor of ceramics at Barton College, Gordon fills the Virginia Thompson Graves Gallery with many of his iconic vessels.
