Barton College’s Spring Homegrown Writers Series Scheduled for Feb. 18

WILSON, N.C. — February 13, 2025 —  As an annual celebration of student writers, the Spring Homegrown Writers Series highlights Barton’s storytelling tradition and offers students a chance to present their work. Barton College’s Spring Homegrown Writers Series will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. in the Barton Art Galleries, located in the Case Art Building on campus. Free and open to the public, the community is invited to enjoy an evening of literary talent from Barton’s students.

The evening will feature readings from talented student writers Kent Brantley, Jenny Cassady Corbett, Brandon Ford, Mayra Gonzalez, and Chloe Hampton, each sharing their distinct voices through creative works.

“These students take their work seriously, and I’m excited for them to share these stories,” said Elizabeth H. Jordan Endowed Chair of Southern Literature and Associate Professor Michael Brantley. “Some of them will hit like a hammer, and I believe resonate with the audience.”

Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore Gabe Duggan’s exhibit, “Certain Mobilities,” which opened on Feb. 3. This thought-provoking exhibition examines binaries and explores themes of disability and social mobility, adding another dimension to this immersive cultural experience.
