Dr. Scott Salger comes to Barton College from North Carolina State University after completing his doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships studying fish and shellfish immunology and aquaculture. His research focused on the host-defense peptides, piscidins, in striped bass and hybrid striped bass. His current work is focused on studying gut and skin microbial communities involved in health and growth of numerous fish and shellfish and on ways to improve feeding techniques of tilapia farming in Bangladesh.
