Matthew O. Flint serves as the outreach and public services librarian at Willis N. Hackney Library, as well as an assistant professor of library science. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) with a concentration in history and a Bachelor of Science degree (magna cum laude) with a concentration in political science from Barton College in 2014. He earned his Master of Library and Information Studies degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2020. Born in West Virginia and reared there and in North Carolina, Flint spent the first 20 years of his adult life in careers in the U.S. Navy and in retail management and sales. After completing his undergraduate studies at Barton College in 2014, Flint returned to Barton in 2016 and spent the next four years as the evening library assistant before becoming a full-time faculty member in 2020 at Hackney Library.
