Makenzie Whitley is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Barton College, where she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her students. She graduated from Barton College with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2019 and is excited in her first year at Barton to be a contributor to the academic community which shaped her nursing career.
After completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) she attended The University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she completed her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in Nursing Education in 2022. She then completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2025 also from UNCW. She has received certification from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
She is committed to raising awareness for vulnerable populations, specifically those in rural communities. She also has a passion for community health. Her clinical background includes experience in Medical-Surgical, Trauma, and Wound Care Management.
