Nicholas Clements is an assistant professor of leadership and management, and leads the MBA in Strategic Leadership program at Barton College. Before joining academia, he worked as a management consultant where he helped a variety of large, complex, public- and private-sector clients overcome a diverse array of human capital, leadership, and organizational challenges.
His research interests include competency based leadership; the HR function as a strategic partner; organizational change viewed through complex adaptive systems theory; strategic, collective, shared, and distributed leadership viewed through the lens of role theory; and the impact of organizational learning on performance.
He is a member of the Academy of Human Resource Development (AHRD), the Academy of Management (AoM), and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM). He holds practitioner certifications including the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), the Society of Human Resource Management – Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), the Human Capital Strategist (HCS), and the Strategic Workforce Planner (SWP) credentials. He resides in Wake Forest, N.C., with his wife, Jeanie; his daughter, Olive; and his son, Wyatt.
