Dr. John Boldt joined the faculty at Barton in the summer of 2017. He is the program coordinator for the Master of School Administration program for the School of Education. He received his master’s and doctoral degrees from East Carolina University in school administration and his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Boldt has over 24 years experience as a school administrator, serving as a principal at the elementary, middle, and high school level. His experience includes stints at inner city, rural, alternative, and gifted schools. He holds a North Carolina teaching license in the categories of middle school social studies, high school social studies, curriculum and instruction, principalship, and superintendent. He is a graduate of the Principals’ Executive Program, the Higher School Performance Program, and the Principals as Technology Leaders from the Center of School Leadership Development at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was named the 2001 Lenoir County Association of Educational Office Professionals Principal of the Year. He is an honorary member of Future Farmers of America and an honorary colonel in the Air Force JROTC. Before moving to eastern North Carolina, Dr. Boldt lived in Australia, England, and Atlanta.
