Angela Gurgainus joined the Barton faculty in 2013 after 21 years in public education where she was a teacher and district curriculum specialist. Gurgainus received her master’s degree from Campbell University. She holds a North Carolina teaching license in the categories of elementary education, academically gifted, and administration, and has received training for various leadership roles such as RESA (Regional Educational Service Alliance), Facilitator for PLC (Professional Learning Communities), AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination), and North Carolina Teacher Performance Appraisal System. She was also nominated for Disney Teacher of the Year in 2005. She is a member of the North Carolina Association for Elementary Educators (NCAEE), having served as a board member from 2009 to 2013 and as the Region 3 director from 2009 to 2012.
