Coordinator of Student Activities

Barton College, a private liberal arts college located in Wilson, N.C., seeks a Coordinator of Student Activities. This position reports directly to the Dean of Students in support of the following offices: New Student Programs, Greek Life, Intramural Sports, Student Activities, and Parent and Family Relations.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include: coordinating and assisting programs of social, entertainment, and recreational activities, and specifically events during the evenings and weekends, including intramural sports and Campus Activities Board events; providing support and coordination to the Orientation Team; assisting with Greek life including advising Inter-Fraternity Council (IFC); coordinating the college’s student shuttle service and the Hamlin Student Center after regular business hours; and assisting with the marketing and promotion of activities.

Additionally, the coordinator serves as an on-call professional for Residence Life on a rotating schedule.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; experience in student activities, large event planning, and administrative support (including undergraduate and/or graduate student experience); and a willingness to work evening and occasional weekend hours. Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, College Student Development, or a related field preferred.

Applicants must enjoy being part of a team environment, must be highly motivated and self-directed, and must hold a valid driver’s license, as travel is required. Preference will be given to candidates with student activities experience. Position is a full-time, benefits-eligible, 10-month, live-on position with competitive salary including an apartment and meal plan (when the college is in regular session).
