Barton Students Held High Profile at Phi Beta Lambda State Conference

WILSON, N.C. — April 19, 2016 — Barton College was well represented at the 62nd annual North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference held April 7-10 in Charlotte. Five Barton chapter members participated in a variety of competitive events and attended general sessions, regional meetings, and leadership seminars. Approximately 250 delegates, representing 26 chapters, attended the annual conference. First-place, second-place, and third-place winners at the state conference earn the right to compete at the National Leadership Conference to be held in Atlanta, Ga., in June. Barton College Inducted 17 Students Into Alpha Chi Honor Society

WILSON, N.C. — Barton College’s North Carolina Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi National College Honor Society welcomed 17 new members into the fold during the fall 2015 induction ceremony. Students with a grade point average of 3.5 or better in the top 10 percent of the junior and senior classes are eligible for induction. The minimum grade point average for this induction class was 3.65. Alpha Chi is a coeducational society whose purpose is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Juried Student Exhibition Comes to Barton Art Galleries December 7-18

WILSON, N.C. —  A semester’s worth of hard work by student artists is going on display at Barton College. The College’s Juried Student Exhibition opens in the Barton Art Galleries on Monday, Dec. 7, with a reception from 5-7 p.m. The exhibition continues through Friday, Dec. 18. Both events are open to the public at no charge, and the community is invited to attend. For their Juried Student Exhibition, Barton students are invited to enter up to three pieces of art in any medium. WILSON, N.C. — May 20, 2015 — Two hundred and fifty-seven Barton College seniors received diplomas on Sunday, May 17, during the school’s 113th annual commencement exercises. Participating in the ceremony were Barton students who completed their baccalaureate degree requirements in December 2014 and May 2015, and baccalaureate candidates who expect to fulfill requirements over the summer. WILSON, N.C. — April 27, 2015 — Barton College is pleased to announce the establishment of the Whitehurst Family Honors Program, endowed through a substantial gift by Barton trustee Garnett B. Whitehurst, Ph.D., of New Bern. The official announcement was made at the College’s Spring Board of Trustees Meeting held this past Saturday, April 25.
