WILSON, N.C. — Daniel J. Gerlach, president of the Golden LEAF Foundation, will be the featured speaker at the 109th annual commencement exercises of Barton College scheduled for Sunday, May 22, on center campus at 1:30 p.m. Wilson Gymnasium is the rain site. Dr. Norval C. Kneten will preside over his eighth commencement program as president of Barton College. Dr. Terrence L. Grimes, vice president for academic affairs, will present the graduating class of approximately 235 seniors. Sigma Beta Delta Inducts 25 Charter Members on Barton College Campus

WILSON, N.C. — Barton College’s newly established Sigma Beta Delta, International Honor Society in Business, Management, and Administration, recently held its inaugural induction ceremony. Conducting the ceremony for charter members of the Barton College chapter was Dr. James H. Barton College Gospel Choir Featured on WRAL’s Spiritual Awakening Gospel Music Program – May 8

WILSON, N.C. — The success of Barton’s students is celebrated through stories, testimonials, and now, even song. The Barton College Gospel Choir will be featured on WRAL-TV’s Spiritual Awakening gospel music program on Sunday morning, May 8, at 6 a.m., and during an encore performance on WRAL’s sister station, WRAZ Fox 50, at 8 a.m. The Barton College Gospel Choir is under the leadership of Holly Zacharias, advisor, and Barton alumnus Terrence Canady, choir director.  TJ Jones is the director of the gospel choir band. Barton Students To Package 40,000 Meals On April 28 To Help “Stop Hunger Now”

WILSON, N.C. — For the fourth consecutive year, the Barton College Student Government Association has raised awareness and funding on campus and throughout the Wilson community for the STOP HUNGER NOW international project. During their first year in 2008, the SGA raised enough funding to package 10,000 meals. By year three, the students had “raised the bar” to package 40,000 meals in April 2010.  On Thursday, April 28, Barton students, faculty, and staff will once again package 40,000 meals for STOP HUNGER NOW. Barton Students Held High Profile at Phi Beta Lambda State Conference

WILSON, N.C. — Barton College was well represented at the 57th Annual North Carolina Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference held April 7-10 in Charlotte.  Thirteen Barton chapter members participated in a variety of competitive events and attended general sessions, regional meetings, and leadership seminars.  Approximately 300 delegates, representing 25 chapters, attended the annual conference.  First-place, second-place, and third-place winners at the state conference earned the right to compete at the National Leadership Conference to be held in Orlando, Fla., in June. WILSON, N.C. — The Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra will present their Spring Concert on Sunday, May 1, at 3 p.m. in the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre on the Barton campus. WILSON, N.C. — On Saturday, April 23, The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center on the campus of Barton College will host a poetry reading, followed by a concert by the female vocal harmony quartet Fleur-de-Lisa. The program will begin at 2 p.m. Following the reading and musical performance, a free poetry workshop will be offered for poets of all levels, fledgling poets and veteran poets alike. Gift from CBC/WRAL Community Fund of the Triangle Community Foundation Enhances Barton’s Communications Program

WILSON, N.C. — Barton College is pleased to announce a recent gift from the CBC/WRAL Community Fund of the Triangle Community Foundation.  The gift supports the broadcast/video production concentration of Barton’s mass communications program as it completes its transition to high definition. In addition to the new WRAL.com Media Lab, the gift will include six new editing bays and 12 new student workstations, complementing four updated workstations already in place.
