WILSON, N.C. — North Carolina landscape artist J. Chris Wilson’s “From Murphy to Manteo—An Artist’s Scenic Journey” will be featured on UNC-TV’s “Our State” program airing Thursday, Jan. 2, at 8 p.m. The feature, titled “Scenes from 64,” will showcase the artist as well as scenes and locations of some of his paintings from the emerging 100-painting collection to be completed in 2014. Wilson, an artist-in-residence and professor emeritus at Barton College, will be shown working on location and in his Wilmington studio where much of the interview was filmed. WILSON, N.C. — Barton College’s professor emeritus and artist-in-residence J. Chris Wilson will hold group and private critiques of paintings on Thursday and Friday, September 19 and 20, in the Barton Art Galleries. On September 19, there will be a group critique from 4-6 p.m., and each participant may bring one painting for the group to discuss. WILSON, N.C. — Barton College artist-in-residence J. Chris Wilson will be hosting a painting demonstration in his Wilmington studio on July 19 and 20. The demonstration will take place from 10 a.m. – Noon and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. each day. Participants may attend any part or the entire two-day event. Wilson will begin a painting on Friday and complete the painting by the end of the scheduled demonstration on Saturday. Participants will be observing the process as Wilson develops a painting from beginning to conclusion. He will explain each step and take time to answer questions while he is painting. Gordon Showcases Work in “Art of the Auction”

WILSON, N.C. — For the third consecutive year, Barton College art professor Mark Gordon will have a ceramic work included in the North Carolina Museum of Art’s “Art of the Auction.” This juried benefit exhibition of donated artworks will be held on Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m. in the East Building at the Raleigh museum. This year’s featured piece by Gordon is a large, wheelthrown, glazed earthenware bowl that measures 18” x 18” x 3”. The ceramic work is titled “Ripple Bowl,” noting the slip-decorated edging. Gordon formulated the non-toxic glaze for the bowl using copper for green and cobalt for the blue rim. END
