WILSON, N.C. — January 27, 2015 — Barton College will welcome students from across the state to celebrate their creativity at the annual Scholastic Art Awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 1. This marks the 37th year that Barton College has served as host and regional sponsor for the National Scholastic Art Awards for the Eastern/Central North Carolina Region. WILSON, N.C. – As part of a new photography exhibition, “Photographs by Hugh Morton: An Uncommon Retrospective,” presenting works by the late North Carolina photographer Hugh Morton, Barton College welcomes the man who carefully selected each image now on display. Archivist Stephen J. Fletcher’s presentation, titled “Hugh Morton’s Rise To His Photographic Peak,” will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Barton Art Galleries in Case Art Building. Chris Wilson will host a painting presentation and demonstration in his Wilmington studio from 10 a.m. – Noon and from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on July 18 and 19. There is no charge, but participants must register in advance, as space is limited. The Gerontology Program of Barton College, Alzheimers North Carolina Inc., the Upper Coastal Plain Area Agency on Aging Family Caregiver Support Program, and Joseph D. Russell, M.D., have teamed up to sponsor this annual conference, which will offer two education sessions.
