“Unhinged” 2014 Senior Art Exhibition Opens at Barton College

WILSON, N.C. –The Barton Art Galleries at Barton College is pleased to announce the opening of “Unhinged,” the 2014 Senior Art Exhibition. The exhibition will be on view in Case Art Building from April 19 through May 6. Gallery Talks by the student artists will be held on Tuesday, April 22, beginning 4 p.m., in the Barton Art Galleries. On Saturday evening, April 26, the student artists will be recognized with a reception from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Barton Art Galleries. Barton College/Wilson Symphony To Feature Acclaimed Pianist Thomas Pandolfi on Sunday, April 27

WILSON, N.C. — The Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra will present their Spring Concert on Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. in the Lauren Kennedy and Alan Campbell Theatre on the Barton campus. The symphony welcomes to the Barton stage internationally acclaimed concert pianist Thomas Pandolfi, who will perform Edvard Grieg’s spactacular “Piano Concerto in A minor.” The orchestra under the direction of Barton’s Mark N. Peterson will also present Jean Sibelius’ exciting masterpiece “Finlandia” and the tuneful “English Folksong Suite” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. Chris Wilson for an illustrated presentation on his series ”From Murphy to Manteo—An Artist’s Scenic Journey,” on Thursday, April 24, in the Barton Art Galleries in Case Art Building on campus. WILSON, N.C. – The 18th annual Barton College Creative Writing Symposium, featuring author Lee Zacharias, will be held on Monday, April 7. The symposium will begin at 7:30 p.m. in The Sam and Marjorie Ragan Writing Center. There is no charge for the event, and the public is invited to attend. Chris Wilson will present an illustrated lecture on celebrated Northern Renaissance artist Jan van Eyck. The “lunch and lecture series” presentation, sponsored by the Barton College Friends of Visual Arts and the Barton Art Galleries, will be held in the Barton Art Galleries in Case Art Building on the Barton campus from Noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
