WILSON, N.C. — January 20, 2016 — Celebrate Valentine’s Day in gala fashion with the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, Feb. 14, at the twenty-fifth annual “Love the Symphony.” In honor of this year’s silver anniversary, the concert program will be a “Salute to the Silver Screen — Music from the Movies” and will feature the dynamic piano virtuoso Thomas Pandolfi. WILSON, N.C. — The Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra will present its annual Fall Concert on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 3 p.m. in the Kennedy Family Theatre. Under the direction of conductor Mark N. Peterson, director of music at Barton, the orchestra welcomes back to Wilson noted piano virtuoso and educator, Boaz Sharon. WILSON, N.C. — A symphony-backed concert version of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s beloved musical comes to eastern North Carolina, with multiple cities and performances planned. “Carousel,” directed by Lauren Kennedy and presented by the Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Raleigh/Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy, and Theatre at Barton, opens to the public on Thursday, Aug. 27, at the A.J. WILSON, N.C. — April 16, 2015 — The Barton College Choir will present their spring concert “Songs and Choruses from Musical Theater” on Thursday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in the Kennedy Family Theatre on campus. The performance is open to the public free of charge, and the community is invited to attend. Conducted by music director Mark N. WILSON, N.C. — The Lighting of the Luminaries and the Service of Christmas Lessons and Carols, long-standing traditions for the Barton College community, will usher in the 2014 Christmas season on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The College family invites the surrounding community to join them for this festive celebration of events on campus. The celebration will begin with a festive candlelight dinner served in the Hamlin Student Center Dining Hall at 5 p.m. Cost for the meal is $6 for adults and $3 for children and students not on the meal plan. WILSON, N.C. — The Barton College/Wilson Symphony Orchestra will present their first concert of the 2014-2015 season on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 7:30 p.m. This annual free concert will be held at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center at 108 Nash Street in Wilson. The program will feature noted soprano and former Wilson resident Melinda Whittington, resident artist at the prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.
