Moving From Strategy To Action

  Since the end of spring semester, many members of the College community have helped advance the Strategic Plan. Following are a few of the initiatives that have progressed over the summer. The Senior Staff is working with Spillman Farmer Architects to renew and refresh the Master Plan for the College. The Strategic Plan calls for upgrades and new facilities, and we are developing the first stage of planning and design to sharpen our vision for the future. Delivering On A Promise

The educational process at Barton has many positive outcomes … our graduates are critically minded and have the ability to think, they are engaged citizens who live and work to improve and strengthen our local communities, and they are ethically minded and spiritually centered, supporting a culture that focuses on serving one another. AND, THEY GET JOBS! A recent survey of 2015 graduates indicated that 87.9% are working full time while 8.4 % are entering or enrolled in graduate school. Gifts That Keep On Giving

  I want to congratulate the Institutional Advancement Team for their fine work during recent days. During the 2015-2016 year, the IA Team raised more than $12 million through donor gifts and foundational grants. Leading these announcements, we celebrate the $7.8 million gift from the E.C. Winstead Estate. The gift, providing resources for student aid and ensuring needed stability and fiscal strength for the College, was received at a time it was needed most. A Fiscal Reflection

I am pleased to report that Barton College ended the 2015-2016 fiscal year in a cash positive position. This means that we had resources to take care of all our financial obligations. This was our goal, and I am proud of our efforts and focus. While the budget for 2015-2016 was not in balance, your spending habits and above normal fundraising made the difference. Moving forward, a balanced budget is an imperative. Our senior staff members have worked hard over the summer to establish these budgets, and they have been successful.
